Island Lastovo

It’s official: sailing holidays on the Mediterranean never go out of style. If cruising among verdant, fragrant islands and shimmering waters is on your mind for your next vacation, there’s no better yacht charter destination than southern Croatia and the incredible island of Lastovo.

As the furthest inhabited island in Croatia, Lastovo forms the gorgeous Lastovo Archipelago together with 46 other islands and islets. With its incredible azure waters, unbelievably lush islands, and abundant flora and fauna, this stunning yacht charter destination is also a designated Nature Park. Approximately 70% of Lastovo Island is covered in forest, offering a true natural oasis far from everyday stress and the rush of city life.
The island is also located near another breathtaking Croatian destination, the island of Korčula, making it ideal for island-hopping cruises. There are many beautiful, secluded bays and coves that are typically accessible only by boat. Excellent swimming spots can be found all around Lastovo, and the island’s untouched nature and tranquil atmosphere are sure to sweep you off your feet.
Beyond its pristine nature, here are a few more suggestions on what to explore during your cruise to Lastovo…

Island Lastovo old town

Lastovo Old Town is located on top of a steep hill and boasts charming medieval stone houses with terracotta rooftops and unique chimneys called fumari. Each chimney is like a piece of art, and no two are alike. According to local legend, these chimneys were built to distinguish the houses and reflect the family’s social status, turning the town into a kind of architectural competition that creates a unique island setting. Just below Lastovo Town lies Mihajla Cove, where the local music festival usually takes place. However, the most popular event on the island is the carnival known as Poklad. In addition to the main town, the island features several coastal villages and ports, including Lučica, Zaklopatica, Skrivena Luka, Ubli, and Pasadur.

Lastovo

Facing the island of Korčula, Lučica is a small village located approximately 1 km from Lastovo old town. Peaceful and calm, Lučica consists of merely 30 houses and is a lovely swimming spot. It used to be a fishermen’s village and today it is a historically protected site and construction of new houses is not allowed.
Ubli is the island’s only ferry port, located on the southern part of Lastovo.
Zaklopatica is located on the northern coast of the island and is one of the most popular sailing spots in the area. With wonderful views of Korčula, excellent restaurants and facilities for yachtsmen, it’s no wonder that Zaklopatica is so popular.

Skrivena Luka Lastovo Island

The opposite side of the island is home to another beautiful bay called Skrivena Luka, also known as Hidden Harbor. It is somewhat secluded and not visible from the open sea. Protected from strong winds and rough seas, Skrivena Luka is an ideal anchorage spot. You can choose between approximately 30 buoys scattered across the bay or 30 yacht berths at the Porto Rosso yachting center pontoon. While you're here, make sure to dine at the Porto Rosso tavern and try some of their delicious seafood dishes. You can also visit one of the oldest lighthouses in Croatia, the Struga lighthouse.

Pasadur Lastovo Croatia

The western coast of the island is home to a lovely bay called Pasadur. It is preferred by yachtsmen because of its safe mooring and anchoring options. Pasadur also offers several nice restaurants, a pleasant promenade and a diving club. You can also rent a bike and explore the island’s many hiking and cycling trails.
Since Pasadur is connected to the small island of Prežba by a stone bridge, it’s always nice to take a tender ride and visit the small pebble beach where you can relax in the shade and swim in the crystal-clear sea. Sandy beaches await you on the islets of Kopište and Saplun, which are also ideal for snorkeling.
The bays of Sito and Kremena, on the other hand, are perfect for exploring former military submarine tunnels.
If you would like to include Lastovo in your sailing itinerary for your next cruise, please note that most yacht charter cruises usually start in Dubrovnik. A great number of yachts for charter in Croatia already include the Lastovo Archipelago as part of their South Croatia route. However, if you choose a crewed and luxury cruising yacht with tailor-made sailing routes, you can easily define your own cruising destinations.
