Another popular sailing destination is Vodice, a small town situated in a wide bay 11 kilometers northwest of Šibenik. The vast majority of islands in this area is uninhabited, offering wild hidden-swimming spots and secluded coves, perfect for spending lazy summer days. The island of Murter is the closest island to the coast and it’s only 17 kilometers from the National Park Kornati. There’s also the island of Zlarin, located near Šibenik and famous for its lush vegetation and pine forests which earned it a nickname the “Green Island. The island of Zlarin is also one of the sunniest islands in Croatia due to its 2 700 sunny hours per year but superlatives about this small island don’t end here. Zlarin has the longest waterfront promenade in Croatia too, perfect for enjoying a beautiful sunset while treating yourself to a delicious local meal. If you decide to head south instead, Rogoznica and Primošten are two sailing destinations you can’t skip. Situated right in the middle between Split and Šibenik, these two little towns have together more than 70 kilometers-long coast, dotted with beautiful beaches and secluded bays.
